Annual Meeting for the Federation of Gay Games will take place in Cologne, Germany

What is the Gay Games Federation?

It is the international directing body that guarantees the celebration of a sporting event every four years and promotes its basic inclusion, participation and personal growth principals. The idea of the Gay Games was conceived by dr. Tom Wadell, an Olympic decathlete, and they were celebrated for the first time in San Francisco in 1982, which had1,350 participants. The following games took place in: San Francisco (1986 – 3,500 participants), New York (1994 – 12,500 participants), Amsterdam (1998 – 13,000 participants) and Sydney (2002 – 11,000 participants).

Nueva York , Gaygames.com.- Starting November 06 of this year, this German city will host the Annual Meeting for the Gay Games, an event that will end on the 13 th of the same month and whose organization is in charge of the local club SportsClub Janus EV (SC Janus).

Kathleen Webster, the Federation's Co-President commented that this city “has a large and distinguished participation history in the Gay Games. During the last few years we have met twice in Australia and once in South Africa , the united States and Canada , so now it is time to go back to Europe . We had our meeting in Amsterdam in 1995 and in Berlin in 1999 and this year we are happy to visit Cologne .”

Each year. Federations members from around the world, meet to coordinate the jobs of their directors and committees, in order to be able to hold the Gay Games every four years. The next sporting competition will take place in Chicago from the 15 th to the 22 nd of July, 2006 , this wil be the seventh edition of the games.

The hosting organization

SC Janus is the sporting coordinating organization for the LGBT community in Cologne . Its functions are to be the source of contacts ad common information between different sporting disciplinarians such as, volleyball, gymnastics, soccer, swimming, ping-pong, handball and cycling. Janus has been a directing member for the Federation since 2001.

Presidne of SC Janus, Ulrich Breite had this comment: “ Cologne and SC Janus our honored to be the hosts of the Annual Meeting for the Federation of Gay Games in 2004. We invite all directors and delegates, life-time honorary members and observers to be present during this event within the historic and warming atmosphere for gays and lesbians that are the ring fighters. Cologne will provide the professional infrastructure to make this annual event a success”.

Post for Movihl Council is still open

Santiago de Chile , lasegunda.com.- The post of Council of Santiago by the President of “Movimiento de Liberación Homosexual” (Movihl, initials in Spanish), Rolando Jimenez, is still pending.

Until the closing of this edition, his appeal had not been viewed by the Electoral Court .

Rolando Jimenez candidacy is being supported by five gay organizations and ecological entities.

Santiago de Chile, Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, GLADD – The first lesbian feminist group in Chile , Ayuquelén, is 20 years old and celebrates it with a Web site.

Ayuquelén, which means “feeling Well” was founded in 1984 after the tragic murder of lesbian activist Monica Briones in the downtown area of the capital.

The United States:

Israeli who claimed the governor of New Jersey harassed him, will not file suit

Nueva York, Associated Press. -Golan Cipel, ex adviser of New Jersey governor, James E. McGreevey, who had previously accused the governor of sexual harassment, has decided not to file a sexual harassment lawsuit against the governor.

Golan Cipel said despite his strong desire to take this case to court, he has decided not filing.

“The main reason is the Governor's resignation and that he admitted his actions. It is clear for everyone that McGreevey resigned because he sexually harassed me and that a man of his stature would not have resign simply because of his sexual orientation or for having had an extra marital affair”, stated Cipel on a written statement.

35-year-old Cipel is now residing with his family in Israel , his native country. On Monday he released the statement in Hebrew through an Israeli public relations firm.

On August 12 of this year, McGreevey announces that he is a homosexual and that he would leave his post on November 15 th because he had an extra marital affair with another man. The governor has stated that the relationship was consensual, but he did not identify the other man who he was supposedly committed to.
